The Canoe Club regularly competes across a number of different disciplines; canoe polo, slalom, white water racing, wild water racing and freestyle events.
All members who join Saints Canoe, whether new to the sport or an experienced paddler, have the opportunity to be a part of the team representing the University at national competitions.
Scottish Canoe Association (SCA) Polo League
One of the highlights of the year for the club is competing as a team in the SCA polo league. Canoe polo is a fast pace contact sport. The focus of the game is to gain possession of the ball, shoot goals and form effective defensive blocks. Through this one develops paddle technique, but most importantly the game fosters teamwork.
The BUCS Slalom event takes place on an outdoor slalom course with many universities from across the UK attending. The club competes as a team, but some races are solo events, others are group races, some are for kayaks, and others for canoes. The event hosts a range of competition and keeps everyone entertained whether that be on the water or cheering from the bank.
